Sedation Dentistry
Most young children are unable to understand and tolerate the experience of having dental treatment completed. The sounds, tastes, and the fear of pain can elicit very negative reactions. Additionally, when a child has several restorations that are in need of attention, it is often questionable how well he or she will respond especially if they have never had treatment completed before. Multiple office visits can also elicit stress and anxiety in young children. This is when sedation can be a very useful adjunct to successful treatment. Sedation can be provided to minimize fears and ensure that anxious children will cooperate and allow the dentist to complete the necessary dental treatment safely and efficiently.
Our office provides different levels of sedation based on your child’s level of anxiety and treatment needs. We will evaluate your child’s needs individually and make appropriate recommendations for a safe and effective option. Various forms of oral sedation as well as intravenous (IV) sedation are available within our practice.
